Carers Support and Wellbeing is a not for profit organisation operating in the area between Eastbourne to Peacehaven to Lewes to Hailsham and the surrounding areas.
Maxine Kerr - Founder of C-SAW
Maxine founded Carers Support and Wellbeing in July 2021 after the charity project she had worked for closed due to funding issues. She recognised that the loss of this service would leave a significant gap in support for carers within the community, leaving many vulnerable while caring for and supporting a loved one affected by substance issue.
Maxine has spent the past nine years supporting families and carers affected by a loved one’s substance misuse. She facilitates support groups, provides one-to-one support, and organises wellbeing activities. Maxine also brings personal insight through her own family’s experience of substance misuse.
Over the past 20 years, Maxine has worked with a range of charitable organisations supporting vulnerable people, alongside working as a counsellor in private practice.
Maxine is a BACP registered counsellor with a Diploma in Integrative Counselling, and in 2025 she completed a BSc (Hons) in Counselling.
Volunteer Directors
Maxine is supported by three volunteer directors who bring a wealth of business experience, including a Trustee from Headway Sussex, as well as expertise in human resources and asset management. All volunteer directors contribute to, and play an active role in, the development and future direction of the project.
